Our guest artist, Michael King, will be presenting the Four Essential Principles of Art – the understanding and use of shape, value, colour, temperature and edges. Michael was born and raised in Alberta where his interest in art began at an early age with drawing and wood carving, In the late 80s and early 90s he studied industrial design at Carleton University and pursued a career as a product designer, living and working globally before choosing to devote a majority of his free time to oil painting. He has a Bachelor of Industrial Design degree, is an associate member of the Oil Painters of America, an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists
and a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. Michael is currently on the board of the Fraser Valley Chapter of the FCA as the president and past vice president. He is also a past board member of the FCA and the Friends of Leigh Square in Port Coquitlam. He now resides in Port Coquitlam with his family, where he paints in oil and pastels. His work appears in private collections throughout Canada and the USA, and he has won awards in a variety of exhibitions and competitions. www.michaelking.ca
